Supriya Phadnis

Profile & History

Dr Supriya Phadnis is a public health expert with more than 9 years of experience of working with governmental, non-governmental and academic organizations. Supriya has completed her Masters of Public Health degree from the School of Health Sciences, Savitribai Phule Pune University (formerly known as University of Pune) in 2008. She has received a doctoral degree (PhD in Public Health Sciences) from the School of Health Sciences, Savitribai Phule Pune University in 2015. 
Previous to joining Goa Institute of Management as an Assistant Professor, Supriya has worked with non-governmental organizations like Institute of Health Management, Pachod, government organization, State Health Systems Resource Centre, NRHM Maharashtra, academic institution, Department of Health Sciences, University of Pune, several international organizations such as INCLEN Trust International for Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Save the Children. 
Supriya’s work explores the health issues of families of patients affected with birth defects and disabilities especially in resource limited settings. She uses scale-based parameters such as Health related Quality of Life and Quality of life to document the impact of lifelong conditions on physical, mental and social interactions of affected families. She has developed an educational and psychosocial support documentary especially for parents of children affected with Haemophilia, a rare bleeding disorder. Her research also encompasses the economic aspects of chronic disabling conditions. Her areas of interest are Birth Defects Management, Urban Healthcare Structure and Health Policy and Planning.
