Global Linkages

Goa Institute of Management (GIM) has active and productive linkages with universities and institutions across the world and also within the country. The PGDM programme at GIM are approved by the All India Council of Technical Education of the Government of India (AICTE) for offering postgraduate courses in management at the MBA level. Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has declared GIM’s PGDM as equivalent to MBA degree.

The international linkages are designed to provide an opportunity to GIM students and faculty members to get a global exposure as well as facilitate foreign students and faculty members to experience GIM and India. The international linkages are greatly valued by faculty and students alike and are built on strong and enduring relationships that allow partner institutes to share and learn from each other. Students and faculty enthusiastically participate in innovative programs like the Joint International Internship Seminar and the International Exchange Programs.

GIM has “exchange programme” arrangements with a following of institutions across the world:

Under these exchange partnerships students attend a summer school or spend a full term at the host school. GIM now plays host to students from LUT, Finland for a full term.

Some Innovative programs with our International Exchange Partners

GIM & University of Antwerp Tie-up

Goa Institute of Management (GIM) collaborated with the University of Antwerp (UA), Belgium (Faculty of Applied Economics) for internship projects (Joint International Internship Seminars) with the final year Master’s students from the University of Antwerp (Faculty of Applied Economics) Belgium and first year students of the Goa Institute of Management.

The projects are undertaken by UA- students of the Faculty of Applied Economics (final year Master’s of Commercial Engineering or Master’s of Business Economics) and first year GIM students. The projects deal with any functional area companies are interested in: marketing, finance, MIS, Accounting, HRM, Production management, Logistics, etc.

The Joint International Internship Seminar (JIIS)

The Joint International Internship Seminar (JIIS) is held every year in the month of September in collaboration between the University of Antwerp and GIM.

Students from the University of Antwerp and GIM work together on live projects in organizations in Goa. The projects are spread across various industries and challenge students to work together in cross-cultural groups to solve real management problems faced by the organizations.

This JIIS is an intensive two-week program and provides a unique learning experience to students from both Institutes. Students from the University of Antwerp travel to India along with their Professors for this Seminar.

The JIIS has over the years successfully delivered on projects in organizations and participating students have found it to be an excellent opportunity to learn how to work across cultural differences as well as to experience working on live projects with tight deadlines.

GIM & University of Kansas Tie-up

Since 2015 GIM has been hosting every December a batch of students from the Kansas University, US. This is part of the Study in India programme run by the KU for its students. GIM ensures that the KU students get exposure to the various dynamics related to doing business in India and also to Indian culture as well as ethos through classroom lecture sessions. Besides, these students are taken on industrial visits to various factories in Goa and are encouraged to have discussions with the officials of various corporates as well as the Government of Goa. Such an exposure enables them to appreciate the art and science of doing business in India besides sensitising them to different cultural values and practices. In fact, our programme for the KU is rated very high by the visiting students.

GIM & WUTBS Tie-up

Apart from the student exchange, GIM has tied up with WUTBS, Poland for a similar program called the ‘India Immersion Program’. This program focuses on the ease of doing business in India. This program is designed for working executives.

GIM & Faculty Exchange Opportunities

A scholar-in-residence program allows a professor from our partner universities to be with GIM for a couple of months to up to a year. A visiting scholar is expected to teach and/ or conduct research. Visiting professors are also encouraged to present their research at GIM’s internal research series. This initiative allows the host institution’s faculty and students to work with academics from other institutions and other countries.
