This year is very special for GIM as we enter into our Silver Jubilee of inception and we are pleased to host a plethora of high- level events that bring together the best thought- leaders, achievers and experts, to discuss and address issues of national importance. The theme for the events is ‘Principle Centred Leadership’ as GIM has always aspired and succeeded in instilling values and ethics in our students. We are proud that His Holiness the Dalai Lama was with us at the celebration of GIM Day in August 2018.

Under the aegis of our silver jubilee celebrations, we are conducting a one-day conference on the theme of Ayushman Bharat as an effort to achieve Universal Health Coverage. We have planned to conduct a one-day conference on Ayushman Bharat and its Implications for Universal Health Coverage in India on November 17, 2018 at Taj Vivanta, Panjim.

Ayushman Bharat is the world’s largest health insurance scheme covering the poorest 50 crore Indians. It was recently launched on October 2nd by Hon. P.M. Narendra Modi and is this government’s most ambitious project yet. The conference would allow an in-depth analysis and insightful debate on its implications for health coverage for all.

Health Federation of India (NATHEALTH) and Indian Drug Manufacturer’s Association (IDMA) are event partners. Honourable Health Minister of Goa, Mr. Vishwajit Rane has graciously agreed to be the Chief Guest. We have also invited Mr. Indu Bhushan, CEO of Ayushman Bharat as an esteemed panellist, along with illustrious people like Ms. Sujatha Rao, former Health Secretary and Mr. A. Vaidheesh, M.D., GSK.

The first panel will consist of Senior members of Government of India, Pharmaceutical industry, Medical Device industry, Academia and policy makers. The discussion will focus on the overall implications of AB in the context of universal coverage for India, its strengths, weaknesses and potential implementation challenges within the current health system.

For second panel, we are excited that celebrated professionals from the healthcare industry - Dr. Ashutosh Raghuvanshi, Vice Chariman and Group CEO, Narayana Health, Mr. Badhri Iyengar, Cluster Managing Director, Smith & Nephew and others- would share their esteemed views on the impact of Ayushman Bharat Mission on the industry.
