Director's Message

Goa Institute of Management turned 25 on 2nd August 2018. We are celebrating our Silver Jubilee this year, with many commemorative events and intellectual engagements. We had the honour of hosting H.H. The 14th Dalai Lama on the campus. We ran a three-day workshop for entrepreneurs (Idealab) with World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF), Malaysia, organized an event on Ethical Data Leadership at Bangalore and event on Healthcare Management on Ayushman Bharat at Goa and of course many more as mentioned elsewhere in this Bulletin. The Silver Jubilee has been an occasion for us for joy and pride as well as deep reflection and stimulating discussion on our future.

This year we have introduced a Two Year full time PGDM Programme in Big Data Analytics. One of the earliest management programme in the country focussed on the exciting field of Big Data with an aim to create Data Literate Managers for tomorrow's needs. The feedback about the programme conceptualisation has been excellent. Our very first batch is full and we are increasing the intake capacity to 120.

We had introduced PGDM-Healthcare Management in 2013 when we set out to build Asia's Best Comprehensive Healthcare Management Programme with emphasis on various facets of healthcare management. In the span of five years 4 batches of students have passed out and the programme has begun to make an impact. Today it is arguably the best healthcare management programme in the country and is growing from strength to strength. All the batches witnessed 100% placement with excellent response from the employers about the talent of the pass outs. The most recent pass out batch had an average salary of Rs. 9.5 lacs and a highest of Rs. 16.0 lacs.

The flagship PGDM programme builds on long years' excellence in management education nurturing business leaders with personal integrity, social responsibility and global outlook. Our students get a thorough understanding of Indian Business Reality and a deep International perspective. Our International Linkages reflect this perspective and provide an opportunity for the student to hone their skills in the International settings. We of course, continue to have excellent placement record and alumni occupying prestigious positions as executives and entrepreneurs.

The National recognitions (NBA Accreditation, AIU equivalence to MBA) were earned by us in the course of our journey and we are well ahead in our journey of earning international recognitions. Our SAQS accreditation is in advanced stage and we have commenced implementation of assurance of learning as part of process of AACSB accreditation. Our Social Sensitivity Project ‘Give Goa' has become an integral part of working and learning. The students find ‘Give Goa' a unique contribution and learn-by-doing opportunity.

Recently Govt. of India has selected our Institute as one of the 13 management institutes for the award of Atal Incubation Centre out of 3648 applicants, endorsing the standing strength of GIM in creating potential entrepreneurs. The centre has commenced its operations and a full time CEO has joined the centre. Apart from classroom learning, the students benefit from centres of excellence, exchange programmes, state-of-art technology labs and student's festivals and clubs. We continue to attract students from diverse backgrounds from various parts of our country facilitating learning by peer interaction.

I welcome students joining 2019-2021 batch and trust that you will have a fruitful and enjoyable two years as well as leave your mark on the Institute.
