How many programmes does GIM offer?

GIM offers 5 post graduate programmes: PGDM (flagship programme), PGDM – HCM, PGDM – BDA, PGDM – BIFS, PGDM – PT & 1 doctoral programme: FPM.

What are the fees for the programmes?

The hostel charges for non-AC accommodation for the entire programme are Rs.1,78,900.

Students are allotted double occupancy rooms in the first year and single occupancy rooms in the second year.

Can I pay the fees in installments?

Yes, fees can be paid in installments.

Installment 1a and 1b should be paid prior to joining GIM and the remaining fees should be paid as per the stated timelines.

Does GIM help with summer internships?

Yes, the placement cell organizes summer internships for the students after the first year of the programme.

Which management development programmes (MDPs) are offered by GIM?

How many hostels does GIM have?

There are 9 hostels equipped with all necessary lifestyle provisions for students. Besides, the campus has a swimming pool, football ground, basketball court, and various other sporting arenas.

Which is the nearest railway station and airport?

The nearest railway station is Thivim (17 kms) and the nearest airport is Dabolim airport (43 kms). 

What is Achiever’s Round?

Achiever's round is a profile-based short-listing of candidates based on their self-reported achievements in various fields such as academics, sports, co-curricular, professional experience, etc. The information is also used for ACCESS scholarship.

Why does GIM conduct a separate Achiever’s Round?

  • GIM wants to have a more rigorous and holistic selection process.
  • This opportunity is offered to select few.
  • The selected candidates MAY also be offered ACCESS scholarship.

What counts as an achievement for the Achiever's round?

Outstanding performance in academics, sports, co-curricular, or at the workplace can be highlighted as achievements for the Achiever's round. The above are indicative and not exhaustive. Examples of achievements are given below for reference:

  • Star performer in last appraisal
  • National Hockey player
  • No. 2 in University Degree Course
  • Topper of school in 12th
  • 20th in State Board in 10th
  • District Level Volleyball Player
  • Held solo exhibition of Photographs
  • Employee of the year

How many achievements are required?

At least one achievement is required, upto three can be filled in the form.

Will GIM verify achievements?

Yes, all achievements should have documents to support and the documents should be available at the time of interview and joining the Institute.

Will exam score(s) be included in Achiever’s Round?

Achiever's round will be conducted without knowing XAT/CAT/GMAT/CMAT scores. The scores will be incorporated in the process later on.

What if I get a low score but have been shortlisted via the Achiever’s Round?

CAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT scores are very much part of evaluation and a candidate with unacceptable score will not get admission, even though (s)he may have been called for Achiever's round.

In case I don't get an offer after Achiever's round interviews, do I have to appear in the regular round interviews again?

No. Your scores from the Achiever's round will be considered for shortlisting in the regular round interview evaluations. 

What is an ELITE?

ELITE (Entry for Learned Individuals Topping Elite institutions) is a direct interview for Toppers of selected colleges

What is the difference between ELITE, Achievers Round and Regular Round?

ELITE – For Toppers of selected colleges. Achiever Round- Non-ELITE applications shortlisted with achievements & Profile. Regular Round- Everyone else will be shortlisted based on XAT/CAT/GMAT/CMAT score. This is called a Regular Round.

Who should apply for ELITE and Why?

Toppers of selected colleges and ELITE applicants will be automatically shortlisted for interviews and will be eligible to apply for ACCESS scholarship

On what basis the colleges for ELITE are selected? What about Toppers of other colleges?

The Goan colleges for ELITE have been determined by GIM management after careful study of profile reputation and our evaluation of Institution. NIRF ranking 2022 has been used for engineering & other colleges within the country.

For which programme I can apply through ELITE?

For all FOUR programmes i.e. PGDM, PGDM-HCM, PGDM-BDA, PGDM-BIFS

Achievers round is applicable to which programme?

What are BDA achievements?

Achiever’s for BDA will be chosen through criteria similar to PGDM with accomplishments in Academic, Co-curricular and Career, including skills/ abilities specific to of analytics, e.g. a Hackathon, patents, academic papers, extraordinary experience etc

In case I don't get an offer after Achiever's round interviews, do I have to appear in the regular round interviews again?

No. Your scores from the Achiever's round will be considered for shortlisting in the regular round interview evaluations.

How do I compute percentage marks for 10th/ 10+2?

The percentage of marks is computed by the process defined by the respective board. For example, CBSE considers the best of the five rule in which your main percentage is decided by one language subject I.e. English and the other 4 subjects in which you get high scores, whereas board such as Goa Board considers all subject scores to calculate the final percentage

What is GAAT?

GAAT stands for GIM Analytics Aptitude Test. This test conducted by GIM is intended to assess a student's aptitude in the areas of Linear equations, Calculus, Matrices, Progressions, and Abstract Reasoning. The test is for a duration of 55 minutes with MCQs. The test does not have any strict sections based on the topics stated above. This aptitude test will be administered online. Every wrong answer will carry a negative mark.

Where are the interview centers located?

For Achiever’s and Elite Interviews centers are located in cities including Bangalore, Goa, Kolkata, Mumbai, and New Delhi. For regular round candidates the interview/ selection process will take place online.

Do I need to send exam (CAT/XAT/ CMAT) scores to GIM ?

No. GIM does not accept exam scores from candidates. Scores are got from IIM, XLRI, AICTE.

What are First Mover and Early Bird?

GIM charges lower application fee for early applications and higher application fees closer to the final deadline.
If you make a smart choice, you pay roughly half of what you pay if you wait till the last day.

Is there any reservation or Management quota at GIM?

Admission to the Goa Institute of Management is strictly on the basis of merit and no donation in any form is sought or accepted in connection with admission.

Are there any reservations for Goan candidates?

There are no reservations for Goan candidates but for selection for the personal interview the qualifying cut-off score of the competitive exam will be lowered by 15 points for candidates of Goan domicile/origin.

What qualifies a candidate to be considered of Goan Domicile/ Origin?

For the purpose of application under the category of persons of Goan Domicile or Origin the student must satisfy any of the following: Goan Domicile: An applicant would be considered of Goan Domicile if he/she produces a domicile certificate issued by the Goa Government or documentary proof of residence/education/ employment in Goa for a period of at least 10 years. Alternatively, an adequate proof of the domicile of any one of the parents of the students for a period of at least 15 years should be provided. Goan Origin: Either one of the following conditions must be met: An applicant or at least one of his parents or grandparents should be /have been born in Goa (documentary proof in the form of the original birth certificate has to be produced). The applicant or his parents should have a share in ancestral property in Goa which is utilized as the family's residence or business premises. Documentary proof of this must be certified by the sub divisional magistrate or the Municipality.

How do I send my GMAT score ?

Inform GMAC to send your GMAT score directly to GIM. Code for GIM is 6VN-62-51.

Validity: GMAT exam taken between 1st January, 2021 and 31st January 2023. Ask GMAC to send score by 10th February 2023 to GIM.

When is the last date for application to GIM?

First mover: 15th November 2022

CAT 2022 deadline: 20th December 2022

Achiever’s Round Deadline: 23th December 2022

Last Date: 4th January 2023

What is the eligibility to apply to GIM?

As per ACITE norm, minimum 50% aggregate marks, (45% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category) in a three-year Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) recognized by the Association of Indian Universities / AICTE. Candidates who will complete all requirements for the degree by 5th June 2023 may also apply. If an applicant does not complete all the requirements of his/her degree by 5th June 2023, or does not obtain 50% aggregate marks in his/her degree, the offer of admission made to him will stand cancelled. The candidates in last year of degree should have obtained minimum 50% aggregate in the latest exam.

Who is an international student?

  • The student must be a foreign national or NRI.
  • Foreign national is defined as someone who has a passport issued by a country other than India.
  • NRI means Non-Resident Indian as defined in Income Tax Act, 1961.
  • All applicants must have scored at least 50% aggregate in their Bachelor’s degree, awarded by a recognized University.

How does an international student apply?

  • Interested students will have to send an email to [email protected] with a summary of their educational background and work experience
  • The admissions office will then e-mail you the Application Form along with the formats for the Letter(s) of Recommendation(s) and Statement of Purpose.
  • Applicants have to mail back to the GIM Admissions Office the completed application form and the other required documents together with the application fee of US$ 60 to the registered office address given below:

Does GIM need GMAT?

For admission evaluation, GIM would require a GMAT score.

I am a foreigner, but live in India and have taken GMAT, can I apply?

What is the duration of the PGDM programme?

The Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is a two-year fulltime residential course.

What is the number of seats of the PGDM programme?

PGDM has 300 seats.

Do I have to sit for both achiever’s and regular round interviews?

No. If you have been interviewed for the Achiever's round and not been shortlisted in that, your scores will be carried forward for consideration in the regular round shortlisting.  

What is the duration of the Post Graduate Programme in Management-Healthcare Management (PGDM-HCM)?

It is a two year full-time residential course.

What is the intake capacity for PGDM-HCM?

PGDM-HCM has 60 seats.

What is the eligibility to apply for PGDM-HCM?

Minimum 50% aggregate marks (45% in case of candidates belonging to the SC/ ST category in a three-year Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) recognized by the Association of Indian Universities/AICTE. Candidates who will complete all requirements for the degree by 5th June 2023 may also apply. The candidates in last year of degree should have obtained minimum 50% aggregate in the latest exam.

Is the PGDM-HCM program open to graduates from pharmaceutical/medical background only?

No, graduates from any background can apply for this programme.

Is campus placement available for PGDM (HCM)?

The graduating students will have access to campus placement facilities, similar to all other full time programmes.

For whom is PGDM (BDA) suitable?

PGDM (BDA) program is a rigorous and intensive course aimed at creating professionals with strong understanding of the fundamentals of data science, which will help them in solving complex business problems. This programme is perfectly attuned to fit the individuals with analytical mindset and quantitative orientation. The courses taught in this program will have a unique element of hands-on training and continuous industry interface to give you a realistic feel.

Is there any internship as part of the PGDM (BDA) programme?

Yes, the students will be required to do an internship-based project of five months on a hands-on analytics experience at a business organization.

What is the duration of the Post Graduate Programme in Management – Baking, Insurance & Financial Services (PGDM-BIFS)?

It is a two year full-time residential course.

What is the duration of the Post Graduate Programme in Management – GOAL (PGDM) ?

It is a two year part-time non-residential course.

Does the FPM program provide for a stipend?

Monthly Stipend 

  • Rs. 35,000 per month during the first and second year of the program
  • Rs. 37,500 per month during the third year of the program
  • Rs. 40,000 per month during the fourth year of the program

Contingency fund

  • Rs. 25,000 per annum for four years and a grant of Rs. 20,000 for Data Collection during the third year.

Is there accommodation provided by GIM?

Candidates will be provided housing facility on campus, during the programme.

What is the eligibility criteria for the FPM Program?

  • A Master's Degree / Equivalent in any discipline, with at least 60 percent marks or equivalent Grade Point Average
  • The candidate must have obtained at least 60 percent marks in the higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.

Is there financial support provided for conference presentations?

After successful completion of course work and comprehensive exam, candidates will get conference participation support as mentioned below -

  • 2 National conferences (maximum financial support - Rs. 30,000 per conference; fund cannot be adjusted against any other conference/purpose). One conference during FPM third and fourth year.
  • 1 Foreign conference with a  maximum financial support of Rs.1,50,000 per student during the third/fourth year.

What is the duration of the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) programme?

Fellow Programme in Management is a full-time doctoral programme with three distinct phases - Course Work, Comprehensive Examination & Research Seminar and Thesis work. The programme typically would run for four years.

What are the SOP guidelines?

Guidelines for SOP: Please upload a 6-8 page (about 3000 words) Statement of Purpose (SOP) for applying to FPM programme at GIM. The broad headings for SOP may include your background, your reasons for pursuing FPM at GIM, and your career goals. This SOP should also include a section on your Research Proposal. The research proposal should state a research problem worth investigating in the given time frame. The research proposal should describe the snapshot of the broad research problem that you would be addressing during the FPM programme. Mention clearly the motivation for taking up this study, the methodology you would use to address it, and the potential contribution it would make to the larger body of research.

What is the financial support available for FPM?
